WHO: Morgan’s Wonderland “Delivering Joy” team – led by costumed-character, butterfly-mascot Joy.
WHAT: Initial deliveries of uplifting entertainment to the homes of individuals deeply affected by the unprecedented COVID-19 health emergency. Morgan’s Wonderland has scheduled visits for the next several weeks after reviewing approximately 80 nominations submitted online by the deadline.
WHEN/WHERE: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020; home of Katie Gonzales, 24822 White Creek, 78255.
3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2020; home of Joaquin Rubio, 7144 Crested Quail, 78250.
WHY: To carry out the world-renowned, ultra-accessible™ theme park’s mission of inclusion, despite making the tough decisions to close to guests for the remainder of 2020 because of the pandemic.
ETC.: “On May 28, we announced the difficult decision to close for the rest of this year,” said Gordon Hartman, the park’s founder. “We received so many heartfelt messages that inspired us go beyond Morgan’s Wonderland. Our doors may be currently closed, but we’re committed to safely delivering joy to the front doors of our friends who need it most.”
Each Delivering Joy visit will be unique to the level of joy needed by each individual. It could be just a Wonderland-A-Gram (like a telegram containing good wishes) or a Doorway Dance Party of even a Driveway Dance Party, if space allows. “Whatever we do, we’ll practice all mandated safety measures; even Joy will be wearing a mask,” said Nikki Young, director of edutainment.
