Morgan’s Wonderland Incorporates Exploration Station Into Popular Sensory Village Attraction

SAN ANTONIO – Morgan’s Wonderland has added a new element – Exploration Station – to its popular Sensory Village, a collection of storefronts with interactive activities that engage the
senses.

Guests will be able to enjoy Exploration Station when the unique theme park designed with those with special needs in mind and built for everyone’s enjoyment opens for its 2022 season at 10 a.m. Friday, March 4. For the latest information about operating schedule, admissions and special events, visit www.MorgansWonderland.com, or call (210) 495-5888.

“Sensory Village enables guests to create their own pace of play and self-select which areas they want to explore,” said Jessica Lizardo, Morgan’s Wonderland CEO. “Popular elements include KMWL-TV, where guests can create their own simulated TV weathercasts; the Village Market, a supermarket for make-believe shopping; and the The Microsoft Experience, offering adaptable Xbox and accessible-play technology.

“Exploration Station now adds new elements to Sensory Village such as the Sand Table, the Selfie Wall and Draw Alive to amp up the fun.”

Sand Table:

The animated sandbox is an educational and interactive experience in which park guests can change and redesign habitats and topography, Lizardo explained. Guests can explore, create and learn by using their imaginations and an augmented-reality sandbox.

Guests dig out and pile up sand, while an interactive sensor detects the changes made to the sand, and the projection adjusts accordingly in real time. Augmented-reality layers make mountains, plains and bodies of water, teaching guests about topography and different environments. Animals and objects react to the changes and roam where they are found in their natural habitats.

Selfie Wall:

The Selfie Wall enables guests to photograph themselves using a touchscreen kiosk and take their selfies to another world using augmented reality. For example, a guest can see his or her face on an astronaut in space or on a scuba diver in the middle of the ocean.

Draw Alive:

Guests can color in creatures and animals and watch them virtually come alive on a large screen with the help of scanning technology. Once their drawings are scanned, guests can watch their masterpieces swim, fly and move throughout a virtual world. Draw Alive also teaches children about arts and crafts and creativity in a fun and unique way.

The only theme park of its kind in the world, Morgan’s Wonderland offers more than 25 attractions including wheelchair-accessible rides, playgrounds and gardens for everyone’s enjoyment. Morgan’s Wonderland is located at 5223 David Edwards Drive in Northeast San Antonio, a half-mile west of IH 35 at the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Thousand Oaks Drive.
