SAN ANTONIO – Unique Morgan’s Wonderland will help guests get into the holiday spirit beginning Friday, Nov. 24, with “A Wonderland Christmas,” special entertainment on select evenings leading up to Christmas.
The colorful mix of lights, decorations, shows, strolling entertainers and holiday traditions will be presented from 4 to 9 p.m. Nov. 24 and 25, Dec. 1 and 2, Dec. 8 and 9 and Dec. 15-23 at the world’s first theme park designed with special-needs individuals in mind and built for everyone’s enjoyment.
Entertainment will include a 7 o’clock special performance each evening. The lineup includes either “Hartman’s House: Holly Jolly Christmas,” an interactive puppet show; the “A Wonderland Country Christmas” musical variety show with Marisa Flores and Camille Sanders; the “Joy Saves Christmas” dance show starring butterfly costumed-character Joy and her friend, Joey, along with the Inclusion Fusion inclusive dance team and special-needs students from The Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland; “Jingle Paws,” an acrobatic dog show featuring Andrea’s Flying Canines; or a special adaptive version of “The Nutcracker” produced by the Children’s Ballet of San Antonio.
Strolling entertainment will feature The Wonder Squad, four Morgan’s Wonderland super heroes who turn their disabilities into super abilities; butterfly mascot Joy and her crew; magicians, marionettes; therapy dogs; and local choral groups.
In addition to the park’s regular attractions and wheelchair-accessible rides, A Wonderland Christmas will offer visits with Santa Claus, a petting zoo, complimentary cookies and hot chocolate, Christmas caricatures, skating on a simulated ice rink and Christmas decorations throughout the 25-acre park. Pictures with Santa will be taken from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for a nominal charge.
Ron Morander, Morgan’s Wonderland general manager, said shows and special entertainment will vary each evening during A Wonderland Christmas, but there will be something for everyone.
“For family wanting to be immersed in the Christmas spirit, A Wonderland Christmas is definitely the place to be,” Morander added. “Morgan’s Wonderland is a truly beautiful place, and it takes on a special ambiance at night for special celebrations such as A Wonderland Christmas. Because it’s so colorful and lively, our guests take lots and lots of pictures to share with family and friends.”
